In Loving Memory of Karen Bass

Her Light Still Shines
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”, says Matthew 5:16.
With tremendous sadness, we inform you of the death of our friend and colleague, Karen Bass, who transitioned on Monday, July 3, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
We never know how bright our lights are until we choose to shine them to help others see through their darkness. Karen made a choice to share and shine her light with Jamal’s Helping Hands as a founding member and long-time ambassador. Standing in her faith, she fully committed and dedicated her boundless talents and skills to our organization and the RARE community.
Through it all, Karen’s light never dimmed but rather illuminated brighter with more passion, more love, and more courage as she continued the fight against RARE. We will deeply miss Karen but strongly believe that Her Light Still Shines on us.
Share a fond memory of Karen’s light with us.
In His Service,
Valeria McConnell

I met Karen as her auditor. From this meeting, grew our friendship. We found that both of us had relocated from MD and both were from MS, yet AL brought us together. Our talks and walks will be sorely missed. Rest well my friend. 💔💔💔

When we walked our dogs Lokey and Saban she always talked about her beloved Mississippi! Dear Karen you were a wonderful person so happy God let us know each other and that you made it back to Mississippi!
