On November 20, 2017, Jamal’s Helping Hands was incorporated with the vision of creating a nonprofit organization to enhance the quality of life for patients with chronic illnesses of rare diseases and their families. Families like mine.
The mission of Jamal’s Helping Hands is to provide client-focused support to patients and their families by providing a variety of services and educating them about resources readily accessible in their surrounding community.
These services include, but are not limited to: providing caregiver information, educational workshops, outreach and awareness, emergency care scholarships, lodging assistance and other resources in an effort to make the experience of rare disease easier.
Jamal's Care Navigation & Advocacy Program
Purpose: Help families understand, access, and coordinate medical care.

Healthcare Coaching/Consulting
Resource Navigation
Advocacy support (appointments, treatment planning, referrals) Program
The Care Navigation & Advocacy Program provides personalized healthcare coaching and resource navigation to help individuals with rare and chronic illnesses and their caregivers understand medical options, coordinate treatment, and advocate for appropriate care. This program reduces confusion, delays, and stress associated with navigating complex healthcare systems.
Caregiver Education & Support Program
Purpose: Strengthen caregivers emotionally and practically so care is sustainable.
Includes:
Educational Workshops
Support Groups (peer-led)
Caregiver self-care education
The Caregiver Education & Support Program equips caregivers with practical knowledge, emotional support, and peer connection through educational workshops and facilitated support groups. The program addresses caregiver burnout, isolation, and knowledge gaps that directly impact patient outcomes.
Medical Access & Stability Assistance Program
Purpose: Remove financial barriers that prevent access to treatment.

Food and travel-related assistance tied to treatment
Program Description: The Medical Access & Stability Assistance Program provides direct financial support to families facing urgent treatment-related expenses, including lodging, meals, and travel for medical care. This program ensures financial hardship does not prevent individuals from accessing life-saving or critical treatment.
